Funding Innovation on the Ground – starting with the 2013-2014 academic year

Across the country and around the world, we’ve seen young people and their mentors do amazing things when invited to follow their passions and leverage the affordances of the digital age. We believe the power of connected learning and support of great teachers and mentors should be available to all young people, across regions and regardless of circumstance.  Together, the partners in Educator Innovator are working to provide the resources, professional development, and community access that will support ever more educators as they work to engage youth in the kind of connected learning opportunities that change lives, shape careers, and build communities. We invite you to join us in helping their great ideas take root across the country.

Help us build the Educator Innovator Fund

With initial support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, NWP’s Educator Innovator has created the Educator Innovator Fund, a micro-investment fund designed to support creative educators in schools, libraries and museums, and after-school and community-based programs to re-imagine learning in their communities. The Educator Innovator Fund will provide seed support, matching local investments, for connected learning programs with the potential for spread. The Fund will invest in launching promising projects on the ground, but also in spreading the resources and opportunities throughout the Educator Innovator networks. Through the Educator Innovator Fund, we hope to engage learning communities in imagining and sharing spreadable projects, extensible infrastructures, and inspirational outcomes. You can contribute to the Educator Innovator Fund today by visiting the NWP contribution site and selecting Educator Innovator Fund. The National Writing Project is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and all contributions to the Educator Innovator Fund  are tax-deductible.
